Samantha Williamson

Embroidery Crafts Maker

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent working on this collaborative project with the local high school students, I use public transport every weekend, but before engaging in this project, I wasn’t very familiar with the Penistone Line as I hadn’t used it before. Having said that, I have really enjoyed being involved in a creative textile project that we are positive will have a really great impact on the train line and potentially refrain the threat that it could be closed down. The year 9 students at Honley High School were such a fantastic bunch to work with, they are all so enthusiastic and willing to learn which made it such great fun teaching them new techniques in a more textile focused area. I would love to involve myself in more public art projects in the future, I love the fact that I can be doing something I love creatively, while at the same time I can be getting engaged with my local surroundings to make the environment a bit more crafty!
