The Penistone Line consists of seventeen stops between Sheffield and Huddersfield, well known stops include Barnsley and Penistone however there are many other stops with places to visit. In their own words, the students of Honley High would like to tell you of these wonderful places to visit, and what makes this area and Penistone Line so special.

Lockwood...

Lockwood is a pleasant and modern place to visit. There are many attractions such as a community orientated pub and the world famous Dixons ice cream parlor  Dixons ice cream parlor is a family run business since 1961! Their Lockwood store is currently open till 10 pm daily!! Another pass time could be going to see the local hockey or rugby union team in action, maybe even join in a few sessions? If shopping is your thing you will not be disappointed with the wide range of unique shops and stores here, not to mention the nearby Huddersfield town centre that is just a pleasant walk away.

Denby Dale...

Denby Dale is well known (relatively) for baking massive pies! The tradition started in 1788 when they made a giant pie to celebrate the recovery of King George III from his mental illness. If you visit Denby Dale you will find yourself surrounded by beautiful views of old Coaching Inns original Churches and Chapels and small weaver's cottages of once a town of the thriving textile industry. Retail outlets including health food shop, artist materials, craft and hobby supplies, fancy dress, picture framing, ceramic and metalwork workshop, gifts, jewellery and fine wine are all available at the Springfield Mills in Denby Dale

Honley...

If you catch the train to the Honley village, outside of the train station there is our high school, Honley High. Walk down to the centre of the village to find things to do such as going to the Park where you can join in on skating on the skating ramps. You can go play football on the fields, where there is a play area for young children and another one for teens. As well as this, there is a cricket club if you would like to have a game of cricket! The Honley theatre is a place for budding actors and actresses to begin their journey to stardom. The Village Hall in Honley is situated at Moor bottom, directly opposite Trinity Church. It is a very nice place with lots of stuff to do. Overall Honley is a scenic village with lovely walk trails, the walks are great if you are interested in beautiful views and to see different sights.
